3M 427 combines a soft aluminum foil backing with acrylic adhesive and a release liner. The liner is a practical distinction when specifying converted foil shapes.
Construction and application fit
The conformable foil provides a reflective metal surface. Manufacturer-listed uses include foil splicing, moisture barriers in appliances and heat-reflecting applications. A release liner supports handling before placement and is relevant to die-cut part design.
Selection and validation
Check overlap, edge geometry and surface cleanliness for sealing work. For heat-reflecting applications, evaluate the full assembly, including substrate and exposure duration. Foil thickness alone does not establish an assembly temperature rating.
Converting and supply
Specify whether you need slit rolls or a cut profile, together with width, length, quantity and destination. For die-cut parts, include the drawing, liner format and placement method. Ask for the current data sheet and required compliance documentation for the exact supplied item.
